Yoga is the journey of the self to the self through the self.
The search for the meaning of life is a timeless and never-ending quest.
The Bhagavad Gita begins on a battlefield with Arjuna, a great warrior, seeking counsel from his friend and spiritual guide, Sri Krishna. Arjuna is filled with anxiety and fear at the prospect of having to fight his family, his cousins. He says to Krishna, “my limbs grow weak; my mouth is dry, my body shakes, and my hair is standing on end…I am unable to stand; my mind seems to be whirling.”
The context of the Bhagavad Gita is relatable. When faced with a difficult decision or task, have you ever felt moments of anxiety or fear? Have you ever become paralyzed by inaction? This is Arjuna’s experience. Krishna answers his questions providing practical guidance and a philosophical discourse around the core tenets of life and the practice of yoga.
