A Somatic Writing Workshop
With Elizabeth Voetsch (yoga) and Jen Doll (writer) as your guides, you'll discover the writer within you.
We’ll begin with a gentle restorative yoga and somatic awareness practice designed to help you quiet the noise of daily life and connect with your inner landscape. Through comfortable, fully supported poses and guided prompts, you’ll be invited to notice breath, sensation, emotion, and the subtle “felt sense” within — the body’s often pre-verbal way of holding insight, memory, and meaning.
This is a soft, approachable practice for all levels, intended not to challenge the body, but to create the conditions for presence, openness, and authentic inner listening.
Now, from this peaceful, connected state, we’ll reach outward for our writing implements, and then further into the self. Guided by verbal prompts, in three 20-minute sessions, you’ll explore your inner stories waiting to be told and practice putting your words onto the page. What comes out may surprise you: nuggets of ideas, an exciting new voice, themes you want to continue to work with, or even fully formed flash fiction.
The workshop will close with a short, guided meditation and leave room for anyone who wants to share a few sentences about their experience or snippets from their work. You’ll leave feeling you grounded, centered, and more available to your own voice and inspiration. And of course, your words will go home with you, for whatever comes next.
